Sign up is over

Sorry! This year's World Fairtrade Challenge is over! You can still support Fairtrade in many ways and celebrate Fairtrade every day with your purchases.

Thanks to people like you, more hard-working farmers and workers around the world can build better lives and brighter futures.

How? Well, there’s the Fairtrade Minimum Price for many products, which acts as a safety net when market prices drop below sustainable levels. And then there’s the Fairtrade Premium, an extra sum of money paid on top of the selling price that farmers choose how to spend. That could be improving their livelihoods through learning new farming techniques, building schools, investing in better healthcare or protecting the environment.

Our shared goal is a fair deal for all farmers and workers. Although we still have a long way to go, there are plenty of wins to celebrate.

Did you know...

Meet the farmers

More than 1.6 million farmers and workers are part of Fairtrade system in 75 different countries. Here are just few of the people who produce the food we love to eat.

  • Robinson

  • Albert

  • Ani

  • Kelly

  • Meet Robinson.

Robinson works on a Fairtrade banana farm in El Oro, Ecuador. When he came to the region, he had lost everything because of extreme weather. Robinson later received a housing grant, which is available to all workers, and funded by the Fairtrade Premium. "Thanks to the help of Fairtrade I bought land, built a little house, they also helped me with scholarships and medicine for my children."

  • Meet Albert.

Fairtrade farmer Albert and his farming group in the Ivory Coast invested the Fairtrade Premium they receive from selling their cocoa in rebuilding two local elementary schools. The group has also helped Albert with loans so that he can pay for his children to go to school. "Cocoa enables me to support the needs of my family, to feed myself, get healthcare; cocoa is everything for me!"

  • Meet Ani.

Fairtrade coffee farmer Ani and her farming group in Indonesia have invested some of their Fairtrade Premium in producing better quality beans so they can earn more for their coffee. "I hope I will have a better life in the future. When all my needs are covered, all my children can have a higher education. So when my children choose to be coffee farmers as well, they can be better farmers than myself..."

  • Meet Kelly.

Kelly works for a Fairtrade banana cooperative in Colombia. Kelly is the president of her organization’s women’s committee, which is funded by Fairtrade Premium and organizes children’s activities. Kelly didn’t have the chance of further education, but is hoping that her children will, with the help of the cooperative. "I have four beautiful children and I wish that all my children can get ahead in their lives and become professionals."
