    Meet the Fairtrade Farmers

Stories worth sharing

Did you know...

Meet the farmers

More than 1.6 million farmers and workers are part of Fairtrade system in 75 different countries. Here are just few of the people who produce the food we love to eat.

  • Robinson

  • Albert

  • Ani

  • Meet Robinson.

Robinson works on a Fairtrade banana farm in El Oro, Ecuador. When he came to the region, he had lost everything because of extreme weather. Robinson later received a housing grant, which is available to all workers, and funded by the Fairtrade Premium. "Thanks to the help of Fairtrade I bought land, built a little house, they also helped me with scholarships and medicine for my children."

  • Meet Albert.

Fairtrade farmer Albert and his farming group in Côte d'Ivoire invested the Fairtrade Premium they receive from selling their cocoa in rebuilding two local primary schools. The group has also helped Albert with loans so that he can pay for his children to go to school. "Cocoa enables me to support the needs of my family, to feed myself, get healthcare; cocoa is everything for me!"

  • Meet Ani.

Fairtrade coffee farmer Ani and her farming group in Indonesia have invested some of their Fairtrade Premium in producing better quality beans so they can earn more for their coffee. "I hope I will have a better life in the future. When all my needs are covered, all my children can have a higher education. So when my children choose to be coffee farmers as well, they can be better farmers than myself..."
